“I know I was writing stories when I was five. I don’t remember what I did before that. Just loafed, I suppose. — P.G. Wodehouse

Hi, I’m Dibbs!

Dibbs at Three or Four Years Old

How do you pronounce my name? It’s easy: like the country “Libya” but with a “D” … so dib-ee-uh. Not to be confused with President George W. Bush’s nickname “Dubya.” My surname is quite easy to pronounce: sar-kar. But I do have a nickname that’s much easier: “Dibbs” as in you’ve got dibs on something.

Anyway, it’s nice to meet you. So, a little about me. I make my home in Orlando but grew up in New York and then lived in Washington, D.C. for a spell.

I have worked as a journalist for Gannett Suburban Newspapers (Westchester County, NY), the (now-defunct) North County News (Yorktown, NY), The Associated Press, Federal Computer Week and Communications Daily, among other publications and organizations. I cut my teeth reporting on local communities but developed a bit of an expertise and interest in government tech policy and privacy matters. I’m interested in many topics and love telling a story with great, interesting, cool words.

Now, I’m a digital marketer, helping individuals and organizations tell their stories through websites, social media, email and other channels. I recently earned a digital marketing certificate through the University of Central Florida and have developed capabilities in SEO, email marketing, analytics and other skills. I want to help people, organizations and businesses express themselves positively, achieve recognition and gain an edge by reaching the widest audience possible.

Let’s connect and see what we can achieve together.
